God is Our Strength and Song

It was an honor to be with you at The Exchange Compelled Women’s Event.

We interacted with Scripture together. Do you want more practice?

This is a roadmap to walk you through six ways to interact with God’s Word. You’ll not just learn what to do; I’ll show you how.

In my novel A Seat at the Table, a mentor character, Nanette, shares some tips to help Joy pick up her Bible and start reading it again. Inspired by the novel, I’ll take Nanette’s tips and walk you through six ways to read and interact with God’s Word.

Note: Reading the novel is not necessary to follow this roadmap…and there are no spoilers either. I promise. 😉

By completing these sessions, you will:

  • Gain confidence in your interactions with the Bible (Once we do this thing together, I’m sure you’ll be able to branch out on your own.)
  • Increase comprehension (I mean, who wants to spend time reading something they don’t understand.)
  • Shore up your ability to recall what you’ve read (This is especially helpful when you’re sharing what you’ve learned with a friend!)

Catch me on the podcast.

More Than a Song is a bi-weekly podcast dedicated to helping you discover the truth of Scripture hidden in today’s popular Christian music.

I’ve been creating new podcast episodes since 2014, taking songs on the radio and pointing listeners back to God’s Word. I pray daily that God will give me an unreasonable desire for His Word, leading to an unsurpassable relationship with Him.

Armed with nothing but a fresh graduate degree, her own self-assurance, and $50,000 of borrowed money, Joy Swallow is determined to start the marketing agency of her dreams.

As she’s thrown into the fierce and competitive world of corporate marketing, Joy drowns out every voice but the voice of her dream. For Joy, this isn’t just about business; it’s about proving to herself—and to the world—that she’s capable of more than anyone ever expected.

When she’s betrayed by her most trusted mentor and trapped by an egomaniacal executive, Joy must decide what winning is worth and how far she’ll go to secure her seat at the table.

Honest reviews from real readers.

What a beautiful story of forgiveness and restoration! The characters were so well-developed and relatable that I felt like I was right there with them. The author did a wonderful job of keeping the reader engaged and wanting more. It made me reflect on my own life quite a bit.

Amazon Review

This was a great read! The author developed characters that each reader can relate to in some way. You will finish feeling inspired to check your own heart and intentions.

Barnes & Noble Review

This story gave me some big feelings. The protagonist, Joy, is full of spunk and bad decisions. Her contemporary struggles were all too relatable as I experienced her anger, desperation, and some vicarious embarrassment!

I’m Not Like Millie’s Aunt

“Is that what I think it is?” she pointed to my trifle bowl.
I tipped the bowl toward her and said, “Banana pudding.”
“I had some of that at the BBQ at the Hensley’s and I searched and
searched for you to get the recipe.” She linked her arm in mine and
practically dragged me to Chance’s front walkway. “You do share the
recipe, don’t you?”
“Um—”
“Cuz I have an aunt who makes the best salsa—like, the BEST—
and she refuses to share the recipe.”

Lucky for you, I’m not like Millie’s aunt. I share recipes. I hope you like this one. I’m pretty famous for it.
